GREENWOOD—A Place for Us Ministries, a Christian organization in Greenwood whose mission is to help women dealing with crisis pregnancies and other difficult life situations, hosted its first quarterly luncheon on March 30th.
According to ministry director and founder Tammie Price, the purpose of these luncheons is to give those interested in supporting APFU an opportunity to have lunch with the staff and residents, tour the APFU home, and learn more about what the organization is doing to help women.
Guests at the inaugural luncheon on March 30 were members of the “Hearts & Hands” group from Main Street Methodist Church in Greenwood. Lunch was donated by Capri’s Italian and dessert was provided by the Goodness & Mercy Tearoom at The Alcoves. The Alcoves is a collection of retail booths and a tea room on Montague Ave. in Greenwood that is operated by APFU. The ministry receives a small percentage each month from the sales at The Alcoves.
During this first quarterly luncheon, APFU staff members explained the organization’s programs, and a current resident read an original poem and sang a song for the guests.
Anyone interested in learning more about A Place for Us Ministries is invited to attend the next luncheon, Price said. Reservations can be made by calling (864) 229-4243 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The ministry’s website is www.aplaceforus.com
